My Hobby

Hello everyone, today I will talk about my favorite hobby, dancing.

I started dancing since I can remember, you could say that it is almost an innate taste, because in my family my mother, aunt and grandmother had this hobby in their youth too.

There are many genres of dance, but the ones I have dedicated more time to in my life are contemporary dance and urban dance. They are very opposite genres but in both I have found different ways to express myself and also, I was in academies that helped me to practice and improve more and more.

I love dancing as I feel it's the best way I can free myself, taking away my limits, always exploring new ways of expression with my body, being myself while dancing and forgetting about everything else.

Obviously, there are bad things too, mostly in the competition field, when you are competing alone or with a team it is very common to feel toxicity from fellow dancers or ''rivals'', they tend to compare a lot with each other and criticize but not in a constructive way. Despite this, I am still happy with the dance, at first if it was something that affected me but then I learned to live with it and only pay attention to constructive criticism from people who want to see them grow both themselves and their peers.

The most important dancing experience that I keep with me until now, was the time I traveled to Santiago de Chile (I am from Antofagasta) to compete nationally with my team at that time and we won three times in a row in the three competitions we went. It was a very nice feeling to know that all the hours invested and passion we put in were worth it. Definitely a memory I will always have.

Nowadays, I stopped being in academies due to time issues, but that does not prevent me from continuing dancing whenever I can, because I started dancing for my own and before being in any dance academy. I always like to look for ways to improve and learn new techniques, either with people in real life or online. Anyway, I hope someday to be in a dance team again, it's something I miss a lot.

Well, that's all, thanks you for reading my blog, goodbye!

  1. it is very interesting that this hobby has been passed on from generation to generation, how nice to share this with your mother and grandmother.
